Gameday Ditch: Christian's Ohio State Picks
We would never tell anyone to bet with their heart. But...
We’re up even earlier than we were last week, and that’s because Christian eats bookmakers for breakfast.
Christian’s Picks are in for today’s “Big Noon Kickoff” against “the” Ohio State University, but let’s take a peek at how he did last week:
Official Pick: Fresno State/Oregon Total, Under 64 - Winner
Lean: Fresno State +20.5 - Winner
He officially gave us the under, and since Fresno State and Oregon combined for just 55 total points, he was a winner there. He also leaned towards Fresno covering the 20.5 point spread, which also hit, so we’ll keep track of Christian’s official record + leans throughout the year. So far, so good.
Season Record: (1-0) + Leans: (2-0)
As far as this week is concerned, here’s what Vegas thinks:
As expected, the Ducks are the underdogs this week. Ohio State is more than a two touchdown favorite at home, and I couldn’t tell you the last time the Ducks were +420 moneyline in a football game—maybe 2017 against UDub when Burmeister was playing?
Gambling 101:
“Moneyline” simply means that you are picking a team to win. Period.
When you bet the moneyline on a favorite, you risk very little and win very little ($100 bet on Ohio State, -600, would only win you $16.67 if Ohio State were to win).
And if you were to bet the moneyline on an underdog, you’re risking a lot to win a lot more ($100 bet on Oregon, +420, would put you up $420).
Here’s what our man Christian thinks about what Vegas thinks:
“Okay so honestly my pick is over 63.5…
And we’re not watching this game for the Ducks to lose by 14.5…
Watch for the Ducks to cover that number, but if we’re talking to the people, I’m leaning towards taking them on the moneyline wherever they’re at.”
So he officially wants the Over 63.5, and the Ducks +14.5.
And if you want to follow Christian’s heart, you can go ahead sprinkle yourself an outright victory for Oregon, too.
Our hopes and dreams are behind your wallet, Mr. Vitale.
For legal and/or moral reasons, I will make a brief reminder to always play responsibly whenever doing anything related to sports betting. Set a limit for yourself, never bet what you can’t afford to lose, and call 1-800-GAMBLER if you ever start feeling like it isn’t fun anymore.
Go Ducks.
