Bennett Williams ruined the Under last week, but we’ll forgive him because he tackles like a beast.
Also without that safety we might’ve pushed. But oh well. Best not to dwell.
Christian’s week-in-review:
Official Picks:
Arizona/Oregon Total, Under 58 - Miss
Season Record: (3-2) + Leans: (5-2)
We’re still in the money, folks, but consider last week a minor setback for a major comeback.
And that’s why Christian would like to introduce you all to the art of the Teaser.
Gambling 101 (via Wikipedia):
“A teaser (or a "two-team teaser") is a type of gambling bet that allows the bettor to combine his bets on two (or more) different games. The bettor can adjust the point spreads for the two games, but realizes a lower return on the bets in the event of a win.”
So it’s like a parlay, but with the added ability to adjust the point spreads and give yourself a fighting chance at different odds.
All that said, here’s what Vegas thinks about today’s Duck game:
Ducks are 8-point of 7-and-half-point favorites depending on where you look as of 5 o’clock on Friday 10/1, but no matter how you slice it, the experts think we’re just over a touchdown better than ‘Ferd.
And with our newfound knowledge of teasers, we can better understand the gift which Christian has bestowed upon us. Thanks to his endless knowledge and vast creativity, he has engineered an NCAA-meets-NFL teaser that is so simple, yet so genius:
“Teaser. Ducks -1.5 + Kansas City Chiefs -.5. Saturday, Sunday, action.”
So, if you’ll refer to the second image below, you’ll see that Mr. Vitale is going off of, he gets 6.5 points for football games, and his odds would increase with every additional team he decides to add to it.
In this case, he’s putting two games together, for -120 odds.
This week he’s just sticking with the two games.
He believes that the Ducks will win by at least 2 points, and that even though Justin Herbert demoralized Mahomes last week, he thinks there’s no way the Chiefs drop three-straight.
In his infinite savvy, Christian is now getting both games (picking good teams that are both touchdown favorites and essentially moving the point spread back to the moneyline) at -120, as opposed to betting either ML individually at somewhere in the ballpark of -300 each.
This guy is using his brain.
Yes, both games have to hit in order for the whole teaser to hit. And yes, when he does win it’ll only count as one win towards his official season record, but this is the name of the game here.
Don’t try to grab the whole pie at once. Just pick winners.
Go Ducks.
